The Arizona Diamondbacks are hosting the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night. At the very least, that was the plan.

Immediately ahead of first pitch from Chase Field, the D’Backs announced that the game would be delayed. Why? A massive bee colony had taken up residence behind home plate. We wish this was a joke.

You ready for some nightmare fuel?

The Diamondbacks did have some fun with it, asking fans to “please bee patient” before playing The Beatles’ “Let It Be.” Talk about some awesome stuff right there.

At the very least, we’re not talking about murder hornets. That would’ve been less than ideal. Meanwhile, the Dodgers also had some fun with the delay.

They were really into the festivities, too.

Others had some fun with it, too.

Interestingly, this is not the first time the D’Backs have experienced a delay due to a bee infestation. It happened back in 2014 against the San Francisco Giants.

Where is Randy Johnson when you need him? Yeah, we can also be punny.
