Las Vegas Aces star Kelsey Plum and Darren Waller of the New York Giants were the talk of the sports world at about this point last year.

The two big-time professional athletes married back in March of 2023. It was a big story in the Las Vegas area. Plum was coming off leading the WNBA’s Aces to the first of back-to-back titles. Waller had played for the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders prior to being dealt to the Giants immediately ahead of the two tying the knot.

Fast forward roughly a calendar year, and their marriage is now over. According to the NY Post, a joint petition for a divorce was filed Tuesday in Clark County, Nevada.

Things were seemingly pointing in this direction after Waller posted a cryptic video on social media indicating that Plum was about to leave him. That came to fruition on Tuesday.

Plum, 29, took to X on Tuesday to post what has to be described as a heartfelt and devastating message. Whether the post indicates Waller had cheated on her remains to be seen. You can read between the lines.

“I’m devastated,” the star Las Vegas Aces point guard began. “I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go.

“God has given me such an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends. One day I’ll share my story, today is not that day. Thank you for the grace to process my pain, to forgive and move forward. Today and every day I will continue to choose joy.”

A native of California, Plum is considered one of the biggest stars in the WNBA. She’s earned two All-Star appearances and two titles since the then-San Antonio Stars made her the No. 1 pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft ahead of their relocation to Vegas.

As for Waller, his best seasons came between the Oakland Raiders and Las Vegas Raiders back in 2019 and 2020 with the former Georgia Tech star recording a combined 197 receptions during that two-year span. He’s said to be contemplating retirement after spending last season with the Giants.
