The former NFL star Tom Brady is speaking out this week to reveal what he thinks is the problem with young athletes these days, as he believes that they have become way too self-centered.

Brady Torches Younger Athletes

While appearing on the DeepCut Podcast, Brady gave his thoughts on the younger generation of professional athletes.

“I think the biggest problem with a lot of f*cking kids these days is itā€™s all about them,” said Brady, 46. “Itā€™s all about them. Their brand, their social media. When itā€™s about me and not us, well thereā€™s no way to succeed as a team if all youā€™re doing is thinking about how selfish it is for you to get the attention.”

“That’s the point of life, ā€˜What can I do?’ How do you help other people finish the race, not just you? What do we need to do physically to be better? What do we need to do mentally to be better?'” he continued. “Emotionally, how can I be more stable, more consistent? How can I be more present? How can I be more of an inspiration to people I’m around every day.”

“And that’s where I think people miss the boat,” he added.

Brady Doubles Down

Brady, of course, knows a thing or two about winning trophies, as he’s won seven Super Bowl ringsĀ and is considered by many to be the greatest NFL player of all time. Now that he’s shifted back to being a spectator, however, Brady isn’t sure that he likes what he’s seeing from the younger generation of football players.

“When people are looking for self-glorification, very self-serving attitudes, very selfish attitudes, it’s hard to have a team-first attitude,” he explained, according to The Sun. “If all you do is be concerned about how you’re doing or your stats or the glory you’re getting or the gratification you’re getting, how can you look at yourself every day and say, ā€˜How can I be a little bit better? How can I be better for my teammates?'”

“Your teammates could be your business people, your family, it could be your kids,” he concluded.

Brady ‘Not Opposed’ To NFL Return

In this same interview, Brady shocked everyone by revealing that he is “not opposed” to an NFL return.

“Iā€™m not opposed to it,”Ā Brady said with a smile. “I donā€™t know. ā€¦ Iā€™m always going to be in good shape, always be able to throw the ball. So, to come in for a little bit, like MJ coming back, I donā€™t know if theyā€™d let me, but I wouldnā€™t be opposed to it.”

Brady then posted a video of himself running springs shirtless to his Instagram page.

Brady first retired from the NFL back in 2022, only to change his mind just forty days later and decide to play another season, according to Fox News. When he retired for a second time in 2023, however, he promised that this time it was “for good,” so it would truly be a massive shock if he came back to the NFL again.

Many will certainly agree with Brady’s assessment of young athletes, as celebrities in general oftentimes seem more selfish than ever these days. That sadly seems to be the world we live in at the moment, and it seems that it’s unlikely that it will change anytime soon.
