Tell us the truth, you didn’t see it coming, did you? Flavor Flav as an Olympic national treasure.

After offering to pay the rent for Team USA Olympian Veronica Fraley last month, the Public Enemy founder is now coming to the aid of gymnast Jordan Chiles.

Chiles, who had her bronze medal stripped in the women’s floor exercise controversially, was given a gift from Mr. Flav at the 2024 VMAs in New York on Wednesday. The kind of gift you’d only get from the man who truly knows “what time it is.”

“I know they’re trying to take your medal away from you but you know what — I got you something that they can’t take away from you,” Flav said as he and Chiles stood on stage as presenters.

“That’s why I wanted to turn this into an Olympic moment, Jordan,” he continued. “And guess what else, too? I got your prize money, too. I got that for you, I just wanted to surprise you with that.”

Flavor Flav To Jordan Chiles’ Rescue

Flavor Flav, of course, has always stood out throughout his career by appearing on stage and in public wearing wild hats, glasses, and a large clock dangling from his neck. So obviously, handing Jordan Chiles a bronze clock is the appropriate move.

Chiles, who did win gold in the team competition at the Paris Summer Olympics, was all smiles as Flav placed the bronze clock around her neck.

“Wow, I don’t know what to say,” Chiles responded. “Thank you so much.”

Jordan won the bronze medal in the women’s floor exercise final after a successful appeal by her coach. However, the medal was later stripped due to the appeal being lodged four seconds past the one-minute deadline.

Romania’s Ana Bărbosu, who initially came in third in the competition, was dropped to fifth. Once the appeal was overruled, the bronze was again awarded to Bărbosu.

The ruling has been defined as “final” by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Chiles Has Not Returned The Bronze

According to recent reports, Jordan Chiles still has her bronze medal and has no designs on returning it. Meaning, she doesn’t currently need Flavor Flav’s clock per see.

Still, it’s pretty cool.

Not to mention, if she doesn’t return the medal in defiance of the Olympic ruling, she might risk punishment heading into 2028.

Chiles broke down in tears earlier this week over the controversy.

“To me, everything that has gone on is not about the medal, it’s about, you know, my skin color,” she claimed.

Flavor Flav called his gesture to Chiles one “of love”.

“The bronze clock that I made for Jordan Chiles, it’s a gift of love. It’s a gift of appreciation,” Flav said when initially announcing his plan for Chiles’ bronze clock.

“It’s a gift of ‘We recognize who you are, we appreciate who you are.’ That girl went out there and performed her behind off for that medal. She rightfully won the medal.”
