Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams was charged with assault for shoving a technician following the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football.

As Adams was exiting the field, following the 30-29 loss to the Chiefs, a television technician of some kind appears to step in front of Adams who then reacts by shoving him. The man loses his balance and falls to the ground.

After shoving the man to the ground, Adams walks past him and down into the tunnel. A field security member can be seen offering the technician assistance.

The technician, Ryan Zebley, filed a police report following the game according to TMZ Sports. The outlet noted that Zebley claimed he was injured and had to go to a hospital to treat his injuries.

That police report has now resulted in an assault charge against Adams. KCTV5 News’ Shain Bergan shared a copy of the citation, which claims Adams, “did, by an intentional, overt act, inflict bodily injury or cause an unlawful offensive contact upon Ryan Zebley by pushing Zebley to the ground using two hands causing whiplash and head ache. Possible minor concussion.”

Following the game while addressing the press, Adams apologized to Zebley saying, “Before I answer anything else I want to apologize to the guy, some guy running off the field, and he ran and jumped in front of me coming off the field and I bumped into him and kind of pushed him and he ended up on the ground.”

“So I want to say sorry to him for that because that was just frustration mixed with him running and literally just running in front of me and that was — shouldn’t have responded that way. But that’s how I initially responded so I want to apologize to him for that,” he added.

He would also publicly apologize on Twitter writing, “Sorry to the guy I pushed over after the game. Obviously very frustrated at the way the game ended and when he ran infront of me as I exited that was my reaction and I felt horrible immediately. Thats not me..MY APOLOGIES man hope you see this.”

Not only is Adams facing an assault charge, but NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported on October 11th that he could also be facing disciplinary action from the NFL.

Pelissero tweeted, “Raiders WR Davante Adams is facing NFL discipline — and potentially even a suspension — for shoving a man to the ground after Monday night’s loss to the Chiefs, per sources.”

He added, “The league is reviewing the situation. Adams apologized through the media and again on Twitter.”
