NASCAR Reveals The Current Top 10 Most Popular Drivers As Fan Voting Continues

NASCAR and the National Motorsports Press Association revealed the current top 10 most popular drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series.

The official NASCAR Twitter account shared an image of the current top 10 most popular drivers as voting for the Most Popular Driver continues.

The list in alphabetical order includes Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Alex Bowman, Kyle Busch, Ross Chastain, Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, and Martin Truex Jr.

Voting for the Most Popular Driver continues until 12:00 PM ET on November 30, 2022. Fans are able to vote for one driver every day, but are able to vote each day until voting ends on the 30th.

Results on who will be named the Most Popular Driver will be “posted on or about December 1, 2022.”

Chase Elliott was selected as the Most Popular Driver in 2021 and upon receiving the recognition he stated, “Well, I just can’t thank the fans across the country enough. I was really mind blown on a few occasions this year of that support to see it first hand.”

“I see the hats and the t-shirts and all that stuff is noticed. I can’t say thanks enough. This town was particularly very special, racing at Nashville over the summer with Dad and just seeing that energy and fire and really across the country. Just a huge thank you,” he concluded.

“I can’t thank the fans across the country enough.”

Elliott previously won the Most Popular Driver award in 2018, 2019, and 2020 as well. However, he still has a long way to go to beat his dad, Bill Elliott, who won the award 16 times.

The Most Popular Driver Award is a family affair in the Elliott household.

Elliott previously won the Most Popular Driver award twice in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2014 and 2015.

Before Elliott, Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the award from 2003 to 2017 winning the award 15 times. Other past winners of the award include the aforementioned Bill Elliott, Dale Earnhardt Sr., Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, David Pearson, Richard Petty, Bobby Isaac, Cale Yarborough, Darel Dieringer, Fred Lorenzen, Joe Weatherly, Rex White, Jack Smith, Glen Wood, Fireball Roberts, Curtis Turner, Tim Flock, and Lee Petty.

The first winner of the award was Curtis Turner in 1949.

Bill Elliott holds the record for the most awards with 16 followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. with 15. Bobby Allison and Richard Petty are tied for third with eight awards. Chase Elliott sits in fifth with four wins.

Other multiple award winners include Lee Petty with three and Fred Lorenzen and Curtis Turner with two.
