A lawsuit filed by the estate of deceased football star Dwayne Haskins regarding his death has been settled. In it, it’s alleged that the quarterback was drugged, robbed, and extorted by a man and three women before being struck by a dump truck while standing on a highway in South Florida.
The lawsuit also alleged the driver of the dump truck was speeding, driving carelessly, and carrying a load exceeding the legal weight limit. Haskins was just 24 years old at the time of tragic and horrific passing.
While events of the evening have never fully come into focus, what is known is that Dwayne Haskins phoned his wife by the roadside to tell her his rental car was out of gas. Then, at some point – while exiting from the vehicle – the former Steeler was struck by a vehicle, and then either ran over again. A toxicology report also revealed Haskins had a blood alcohol level of .24 and had also tested positive for ketamine and norketamine.
So, this gridiron standout was legally drunk, walking on the highway in South Florida, and became the victim of apparent foul play. Which makes the finality of the footballer’s life even more bizarre.

So, as it stands right now: the estate of former NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against three of those named in the case thus far. Ten defendants still remain. There is no official word yet on if those other parties are actively involved in negotiations with the estate’s attorneys.
Dwayne Haskins was selected 15th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Washington Steelers, following a record-setting junior season at Ohio State. However, he only lasted two seasons in the Nation’s Capital before being released and signing with Pittsburgh. He was considered a potential starter eventually for the Steelers before his untimely passing.
