UFC star Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis is in the headlines, but sadly not because of a recent win or funny interaction with fans. It has been revealed by Houston-based ABC13 that the fighter was recently arrested and charged for reckless driving.

Lewis has been charged for allegedly driving 136 miles per hour in his Lamborghini in a 50 mph stretch of road in Houston. This comes at a pretty bad time for Lewis, as he’s about to face off against Jailton Almeida at this upcoming weekend’s UFC São Paulo.
According to MMAFighting.com, Lewis was initially charged on October 25th, and was driving his car with “willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons and property by driving at a high rate of speed and changing lanes in an unsafe manner,” according to court documents.

He faces a misdemeanor with potential penalties of 30 days in jail or a $200 fine. The incident occurs as he’s set to fight Almeida in Brazil, following a new UFC contract after his victory over de Lima in July.
