She was a favorite going in and it ended up happening.

WWE Superstar Bayley won the women’s Royal Rumble on Saturday night.

First-Time Winner

Sports Illustrated reported, “For the first time in her career, Bayley won the Royal Rumble.”

“She entered third, and then outlasted every other competitor in the match over the next hour and three minutes. Bayley has yet to main-event a WrestleMania, but this looks like it will finally be her chance to headline the event,” SI noted.

But Bayley’s victory wasn’t the only big news coming out of the match.

A star was born when Jade Cargill entered the match, making her WWE in-ring debut.

Cargill had been on WWE TV weeks ago after leaving All Elite Wrestling.

But no one had seen her for a while until Saturday night.

SI reports, “Cargill entered the match at no. 28, and commentary immediately highlighted her as a legitimate star. After presenting Nia Jax as an unstoppable force throughout the match, Cargill was the perfect choice to eliminate her–especially by slamming her over the top rope. The showdown between Cargill and Bianca Belair was a must-see moment, and she also eliminated Becky Lynch and Naomi.”

More Surprises

There were other surprises, like Naomi returning to WWE after leaving TNA Wrestling where she performed as Trinity. Also, TNA Wrestling’s women’s champion Jordynn Grace was in the Rumble, an unusual event in WWE, where the company has historically ignored all other wrestling organizations.

Bayley’s Night

But it was truly Bayley’s night. She will choose which women’s world champion she would like to face at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia in April, between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley.

Congrats to the 2024 women’s Royal Rumble winner!
