We all remember the Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese feud during the 2023 women’s college basketbal tournament. The two went at it back and forth before Reese’s LSU Tigers defeated Clark and Iowa in the national championship game.
There wasn’t much drama between the two as they finished up their college basketball careers this past season. Heck, they were even a bit chummy during the 2024 WNBA Draft earlier in the spring.
About that? The feud is about to continue. In fact, it might have already continued with each just a handful of games into their professional careers.
Let’s lay it out quickly.
Reese and her Chicago Sky upset the New York Liberty on Thursday, handing them their first loss of the young season. After dropping 13 points and nine rebounds in the 90-81 victory, Reese opted to head to social media and take a shot at Clark on X. The post even came with a typo before being deleted.
“And that’s on getting a WIN in a packed area (arena) not just cause of one player on our charter flight,” Angel Reese wrote.
This is a dig at the narrative that Clark played a major role in the WNBA finally giving teams chartered flights this season after they had to fly commercial throughout the league’s existence. It’s short. It’s sweet. But Reese knew what she was doing. Simply deleting the post on X changes absolutely nothing.

It’s been a major talking point surrounding the ever-growing WNBA brand. Just how much of an impact has Clark had after she was selected No. 1 overall in this year’s draft? The television ratings certainly tell us a story.
We’re talking about a record-breaking college basketball player and someone who helped the women’s tournament outdraw the men’s iteration. That would never have even been a possibility a mere half-decade ago.
Meanwhile, men continue to come to Clark’s defense amid shots she’s taken from players such as Reese.
“You woman out there, y’all petty, man. Y’all should be thanking (Caitlin Clark) for getting y’all a*s private charters. All the money and visibility she’s bringing to the WNBA,” Hall of Famer Charles Barkley said recently.
As he always does with everything under the sun, LeBron James chimed in, too.
“I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before. I’ve walked that road before,” James said. “I hope she kills.”
With men going to bat for Clark and some women seemingly criticizing her, it has created an entirely new construct around the basketball world.
Despite her Fever boasting a 0-5 record on the season, Clark is averaging 17.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists. She’s also averaging 5.8 turnovers per game.
When under the spotlight, you are going to be on the receiving end of both praise and criticism. It’ll be all about how Clark handles it moving forward.
