The Met Gala, which is hosted annually to benefit the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, saw celebrities from every industry headed to New York City to attend this year’s “Garden of Time”-themed event.

While much of the attention was focused on the Hollywood stars that chose to attend this year’s Met Gala, there were many athletes in attendance as well. We’ve compiled some of the highest profile athletes at last night’s Met Gala, so scroll through and see if yours made the list!

Serena Williams

The legendary former tennis player Serena Williams was in attendance at the Met Gala rocking a gorgeous gold dress. Vogue reported that Williams teamed up with Balenciaga on this gown, which was inspired by look 52 from the house’s 51st couture collection.

“It’s truly been an honor to collaborate with the talented Balenciaga team on such a memorable and glamorous piece,” Williams said of the dress. “This gown represents a collective effort to create something truly extraordinary, and I am immensely proud to be the one to showcase it.”

Williams and Balenciaga’s efforts paid off, because this ended up being one of the most memorable looks of the night!

Venus Williams

Williams’ big sister Venus got in on the action as well, wearing a Marc Jacobs gown that was covered in tiny mirrors. Like many of the outfits that were worn last night, this one had a deeper meaning behind it.

“It’s based off the theme of today, we’re showing all these dresses that are too fragile to wear,” Venus told E! News. “So he wanted to bring in the fragility of mirrors—I only broke one.”

The broken mirror cracked while Venus was zipping up, “but it was too late ’cause I was already running behind!”

She was still able to rock the look when she arrived at the Met Gala, though!

Stefon Diggs

The NFL star Stefon Diggs headed to the Met Gala last night to walk his first red carpet since signing with the Houston Texans. While there, he rocked a custom liquidy midnight blue H&M suit that made him look as dashing as can be.

“I was 100% confident in it, since I saw the drawing,” he told Vogue. “I wish I was here yesterday, but they did such a diligent job doing my measurements at the first fitting, so it just kind of worked out.”

This was Diggs’ second Met Gala, as he previously attended last year as the fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger’s personal guest. While he admitted that he “was a little intimidated” at his first Met Gala, he was appeared to be a seasoned pro at it last night!

Angel Reese

The NCAA star Angel Reese celebrated her 22nd birthday at the Met Gala last night, wearing a 16Arlington by Marco Capaldo custom gown. Her breathtaking look consisted of a sparkly mint-green dress that featured a plunging neckline and a sheer, floor-length skirt with feather details around the waist.

“I feel beautiful, and I feel sexy,” Reese told Women’s Wear Daily. “I’m just excited to see everyone’s outfits. Everyone looks amazing in here. Being here on my 22nd birthday is amazing.”

Reese was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft last month, and she’s gearing up for her rookie season with the Chicago Sky. Judging by her confidence on the red carpet last night, it appears that she’s ready for a stellar season!

Nelly Korda

The thirteen-time LPGA Tour winner Nelly Korda attended the Met Gala as a guest of Casey Wasserman, and she wore a dress designed by Oscar de la Renta.

Korda’s outfit was an ankle-length dress with red and green floral embellishment, and this was her first time attending the Met Gala. Korda is currently on a hot streak, as she just won her second major title at the Chevron Championship last month.

“I feel like for me, the way that I promote the game is just the way I am,” Korda told Golf Week. “I’m very true to myself. I’m never going to do something I’m not really comfortable with.”

Korda certainly promoted the game well last night with her iconic Met Gala look!
