Contrary to previous reports and media speculation, the charges against Scottie Scheffler in his case involving an alleged confrontation with a Louisville police officer are not being dropped.
This, according to his attorney Steve Romines.
“I’ve been defending criminal cases for 30 years and have learned to never be surprised,” Romines told the Golf Channel.
He later added, “Whoever reported [the charges] were going to be dismissed was not accurate.”
The news comes as it has been revealed that Scheffler’s arraignment has been temporarily delayed to June 3rd, at 9 AM. It was originally scheduled for today at the same time.

Scottie Scheffler To Be Arraigned On Charges In June
For those golf fans curious about the matter, the new arraignment date for Scottie Scheffler to face charges falls on a Monday and would not technically interfere in any PGA tournament play.
It would be the day after the RBC Canadian Open in Hamilton, Ontario where he is not slated to participate. And it would lead into the week-ending Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.
Golf, though, may be the least of Scheffler’s concerns that week.
He was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.
The first charge is a felony which, according to the Daily Mail, is punishable by between five and ten years in prison. Which is pretty remarkable considering the world’s number one golfer has insisted the incident was nothing more than a “misunderstanding.”
Another issue for the police? It has been confirmed that there is no bodycam evidence of the alleged altercation.

Scottie Scheffler’s Side of the Story
Scottie Scheffler was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, and raised in Dallas, Texas. Despite being the world’s top golfer, he is a rather unassuming face and name.
And he is rarely looked at as a man who would run afoul of the law.
Scheffler, following the PGA Championship this past weekend, explained to reporters his viewpoint of what had happened.
“This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers,” he said. “It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do.”
“I never intended to disregard any of the instructions,” Scheffler continued. “I’m hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like he’ll be able to put it aside with an upcoming arraignment date.
