LPGA golfer Charley Hull was spotted channeling her inner John Daly, smoking a cigarette while signing autographs for her fans.

The 28-year-old English golfer, currently ranked 8th in the world, had fans buzzing as a video surfaced showing her casually ripping a dart as she accommodated fans seeking a souvenir before this weekend’s US Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club.

The moment, captured and shared across social media, drew comparisons to PGA legend John Daly, known for his laid-back demeanor and penchant for smoking on the course.

If Hull is experiencing any nerves prior to the major championship, she sure isn’t expressing them in any manner in this video.

Charley Hull Ripping A Dart

So enamored were golf fans with Charley Hull’s video that her name and “ripping a dart” were trending in Google searches.

Urban Dictionary defines “ripping a dart” as “to smoke a cigarette and be a beauty.”

Hull is doing that. And she is definitely being that.

Since joining the LPGA, Charley Hull has scored two tour victories; the Volunteers of America Classic in 2022 and the CME Group Tour Championship in 2016.

She has 6 professional wins including four on the Ladies European Tour since turning pro in 2013.

But she may never be more popular than she is right now doing John Daly impersonations.

Comparisons To John Daly

Naturally, fans saw the video of Charley Hull ripping a dart and immediately drew comparisons to two-time major championship winner John Daly.

Daly has always been known as an interesting character on the PGA tour, but over the past several years has turned into a real-life version of Happy Gilmore, eschewing established stuffy attire, training methods, and decorum on the course.

And it has endeared him to the fans as an everyday man. Hull might not yet be showcasing the wild outfits or the Babe Ruth diet technique, but the cigarette smoking is seemingly enduring her to the fans as well.

NBC Sports has described the LPGA star as a “one-of-a-kind talent” heading into the US Open. She finished tied for second in last year’s Open.

Will that “one-of-a-kind talent” carry her to victory this year? And will she start smoking cigars in celebration afterward? Time will tell.
