The biggest news out of the PGA championship so far isn’t Xander Schauffle’s insane -9 lead. Which is a real shame, because it’s a record-breaking day for Schauffle.

Instead, the biggest news is the wild, bizarre arrest of the current top golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler was arrested driving into Valhalla, and the scene is like a madcap. Fellow tourer Michael Kim isn’t impressed.

Scottie Scheffler Arrested

In the wee hours of the morning, Scottie Scheffler was attempting to drive into Valhalla to get started on his day. Instead, all hell broke loose.

While police were dealing with a separate crash – in which a pedestrian was tragically killed – Scheffler was trying to navigate the traffic to get into the parking lot.

ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington was there to describe the action. Reportedly, an officer told Scheffler to stop, at which point Scheffler drove a further “20 yards towards the entrance.”

Bounding Into Sports’ Rusty Weiss describes the rest:

Scheffler, Darlington reports, “rolled down his window to talk to the officer” but he instead “grabbed Scheffler’s arm to pull him out of the vehicle.”

“The officer reached inside the vehicle to open the door, and once Scheffler was pulled out, he was pushed against the car and placed in handcuffs,” ESPN writes.

At one point, this year’s Masters winner pleaded with Darlington, “Can you help?”

This is bad enough. But it gets worse when you see the stacked charges against Scheffler, as referenced in Kim’s tweet above.

Michael Kim Responds to Scottie Scheffler’s Arrest

Kim wasn’t just commenting on the absurdity of an assault charge against Scheffler. He wants to bring down the whole system!

Kim seems on point here, when you combine his guess with Darlington’s reporting. Kim insists he’s done driving into tournaments:

Lastly, he brings up a fascinating point I hadn’t thought of.

Golf interference! The wild arrest and certainly the serious charges leveled against Scheffler have to affect his game, right?

Hopefully, this will get sorted and Scheffler will be able to golf worry-free, lest we have to give poor Xander Schauffle an asterisk on his championship outing.
