World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was attempting to enter Valhalla Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky, for the second round of the PGA Championship Friday morning.

Then, all hell broke loose.

Scheffler ended up being detained and ultimately booked in jail after he allegedly failed to follow police orders in entering the club.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington was at the scene. He not only got video of the incident, but was also able to provide an eyewitness report of what transpired.

Scheffler was ultimately handcuffed and placed in the back of the police car before being booked into jail on charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from an officer directing traffic.

The entire situation was absolutely crazy. Even crazier is the fact that Scheffler made his tee time for Round 2 of the PGA Championship after being released on bond.

Nothing as it relates to the Louisville Metro Police Department should be considered comical after what we’ve seen in recent years. But at the very least, this situation did have some comedy involved given the police report of Scheffler’s arrest and the fact that he still made his tee time after being charged with a felony.

The police report on Scheffler’s arrest included a note that detective Bryan Gillis’ uniform pants — valued at $80.00 — were damaged beyond repair. We’re not kidding.

Reactions ranged from absolutely hilarious to 100% correct.

As for Scottie Scheffler, we’ll start with the best reaction to the world No. 1 making his way to the tee after his arrest. It’s about the best thing we’ll see on socials all day.

Other reactions were pretty funny, too.
