Brady’s Advice To NFL Rookies

Brady, 46, attended a luncheon for six first-round NFL draft picks that was hosted by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.

The six rookies were the Chicago Bears No. 1 pick Caleb Williams, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers, and Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.

During this luncheon, Brady offered some words of wisdom to the rookies as they head into their first NFL seasons.

“When you have 53 guys on the team, you think it’s about you. It ain’t about you. It’s about us,” Brady told the rookies. “And the biggest problem I see with a lot of the young players today, you guys are making it too much about I and me.”

“Because of social media, because of branding and all that. It’s fine… you’re not going to win,” he added. “There was a difference between being a star and being a champion.”

Brady’s Previous Comments On Young Athletes

Brady made similar comments last month on the DeepCut Podcast, where he slammed young athletes for being self centered.

“I think the biggest problem with a lot of f*cking kids these days is it’s all about them,” Brady said. “It’s all about them. Their brand, their social media.”

“When it’s about me and not us, well there’s no way to succeed as a team if all you’re doing is thinking about how selfish it is for you to get the attention,” he continued.

Brady proceeded to double down on this by talking about the negative impact selfishness can have on a team.

“When people are looking for self-glorification, very self-serving attitudes, very selfish attitudes, it’s hard to have a team-first attitude,” he explained, according to The Sun.

Brady’s NFL Career

NFL rookies might want to listen to Brady’s advice, as he knows a thing or two about success. The quarterback played for the New England Patriots from 2000 until 2019. Then, he moved to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2020 until 2022.

Brady won seven Super Bowls throughout his lengthy career in the years 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021. He was additionally named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) five times in 2002, 2004, 2015, 2017, and 2021.

After retiring from the NFL last year, Brady is preparing to transition into broadcasting. He signed a 10-year, $375 million contract to also become an NFL commentator with Fox. Brady is now set to make his broadcasting debut in the network in the fall.
