Here’s one you don’t see every day.

All golfers dream of getting to participate in the PGA Tour throughout their lifetime, but only a very select few actually get that rare opportunity. This encounter didn’t involve getting to showcase any golfing skills on the putting green, but this random fan still had a day he’ll never forget.

On Sunday during the PGA Tour, professional golfer C.T. Pan found himself suddenly down a caddie after his original partner, ‘Fluff’ Cowan, got hurt after slipping and falling on the third hole on a rainy afternoon. Cowan, 76, suffered “nonserious” injuries, yet he was still unable to go on.

Cowan’s absence prompted Pan to require assistance from a total of four different caddies to help him, but the most notable help came from a random fan named Paul Emerson.

Here’s Emerson getting ready for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at the PGA Tour.

Unfortunately, Emerson’s five minutes of glory didn’t last long. After briefly holding the bag for Pan, Emerson was replaced on the fifth hole by Mike Campbell, who actually works as a caddie at the club.

Later on, Alex Riddell replaced Campbell, even though he typically serves as the caddie for Paul Barjon. However, since Riddell was nearby, thanks to him living in Ontario, and had prior familiarity with Pan, Riddell stopped watching the PGA Tour event on TV and sprung into action to rush to Pan’s aid.

While Emerson’s moment in the spotlight didn’t last long, we have a feeling he and several other observers will never forget his lucky encounter.
