Indiana Fever general manager Lin Dunn put the WNBA on blast after Chennedy Carter and Angel Reese both tangled with Caitlin Clark during their loss in the Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday.

Late in the third quarter, Carter blindsided Clark with a hip-check as she was focused on an inbounds play, sending the Fever star to the floor.

Reese was seen cheering excitedly on the sidelines. Carter was charged with a foul which, after a league review, was upgraded to a Flagrant 1.

Reese followed that up by throwing a blatant elbow at Clark in the fourth quarter which also sent her flying to the floor. The officials, though, let that one slide.

Fever GM Not Happy With WNBA Allowing Players To Go After Caitlin Clark

Fever head coach Christie Sides said she has been submitting videos to the league to show them that Caitlin Clark is being unjustly physically targeted during games.

“I’m trying not to get fined,” Sides told reporters. “I’m just gonna keep sending these possessions to the league and these plays. Hopefully, they’ll start to, you know, take a better look at some of the things we see happening or we think is happening.”

Lin Dunn, the Fever’s GM, responded to Sides’ comments in a post on X.

“There’s a difference between tough defense and unnecessary— targeting actions!” Dunn wrote. “It needs to stop! The league needs to ‘cleanup’ the crap! That’s NOT who this league is!!”

Clark: ‘I’m Getting Hammered’

Clark seems to agree with Dunn’s assessment that these actions are not part of the normal flow of a basketball game.

“I wasn’t expecting that,” she said of Carter’s flagrant foul adding, “That’s just not a basketball play.”

Clark also was engaged in a verbal confrontation with Seattle Storm guard Victoria Vivians earlier in the week.

“I feel like I’m getting hammered, I don’t know,” she said following that contest.

Sides said that she’s happy with the way Clark handled herself after the Carter and Reese hits.

“Just more happy that Caitlin handled it the way she did. It’s tough to keep getting hammered the way she does, and to not get rewarded with free throws or just a foul called. She’s continuing to fight through them,” she said.

Indeed, Clark fought through the Carter hip-check and sank her one free throw. And the Fever went on to win by a single point.

Both Sky players avoided addressing the controversy after the game with Reese and the team being fined for not being available to the media.

Indiana will face Chicago again on June 16th.
