Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is only 35 years old, but he’s currently on top of the world.
During the regular season, he took the Celtics to an incredible 64-18 record, including 41-11 in-conference.
Now, he has his team in the NBA Finals and he’s fielding all sorts of questions. Which reminded me of a hilarious question he was asked a few years ago.

Joe Mazzulla Schools Reporter’s Stupid Question
Being a sports beat reporter is no easy task. Often, you see the same things so many times, it’s hard to come up with pertinent, interesting questions.
That’s why you see the jokers come along with off-beat or totally unrelated questions.
That’s what happened to Joe Mazzulla in 2022, but he had a hilarious response.
Back in 2022, Prince William and Princess Kate of the British Royal Family came to town and took in a Celtics game.
So of course, a reporter asked coach Joe Mazzulla if he met with the Royal Family.
Reporter: “A non-basketball question, did you get a chance to meet with the Royal Family, and if not, how was it like having them there in the building?”
Without even missing a beat, Mazzulla came right back with this classic response:
“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph?” Mazzulla asked the reporter.
Reporter: “The Prince and Princess of Wales?”
Mazzulla: “No, I did not. I’m only familiar with one Royal Family. I don’t know too much about that one.”

Joe Mazzulla is Crushing the NBA
When he’s not giving hilariously perfect responses to stupid questions from reporters, Mazzulla has his Celtics draining buckets.
After a decent college basketball career (700 points, 340 assists) Mazzulla went into coaching. First, he was stuck in the doldrums as Glenville State, then Fairmont State. After some success at Fairmont, he was brought on as an assistant coach for the Celtics in 2019.
He became head coach just three years later in 2022, taking over for Ime Udoka. The team had just lost the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.
In Mazzulla’s first season, the Celtics posted a strong 57-25 season, but lost in the Eastern Conference Finals to the 8th-seed Miami Heat.
Obviously, this year, Mazzulla has them right back in the Finals, and in the driver’s seat. Star player Jayson Tatum is lighting up the scoreboard on their way to a 2-0 lead in the Finals over the Dallas Mavericks.
