A’ja Wilson and the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces finished up the pre-Olympic part of the WNBA schedule Tuesday night at home against the Chicago Sky.

It was another frustrating performance for an Aces super-team that has “disappointed” to the tune of a 16-8 record. Vegas lost by the score of 93-85 with fellow Olympians Chelsea Gray and Kelsey Plum struggling inside Michelob Ultra Arena.

Wilson did her part as the likely WNBA MVP dropped 28 points with 14 rebounds, five blocks and three steals. It’s just a continuation of utter dominance on the part of the league’s best player.

Even then, Wilson was not having any of the antics from her teammates after the game. R&B legend Usher joined other big-time celebrities sitting courtside for the game — a clear indication of the WNBA’s growth over the years.

When Wilson’s teammates opted to go take photos with Usher after Vegas lost, the two-time MVP lost her cool on the Amazon Prime broadcast.

“They ain’t did s**t all day, but they wanna take a mother******* picture with Usher,” Wilson said as she was shown on camera.

Hilariously enough, Wilson hugged Usher when he approached her. Apparently, you can’t pretend to act too good for an eight-time Grammy Award winner. We don’t blame her.

Sure, all of the talk around the WNBA this season has surrounded Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. Her brilliant play coupled with a feud involving fellow rookie Angel Reese has made waves.

But let’s not ignore what Wilson has done in attempting to lead her Aces to a three-peat. The numbers speak for themselves. We’re not joking.

  • A’ja Wilson stats (2024): 27.2 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 2.9 BPG, 1.9 SPG

Wilson will now join three of her teammates in Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics. A repeat of Tuesday night’s incident in France would be something. Let’s hope she can avoid that on the world stage. But the frustration is understandable.
