In the midst of their record-setting performances in helping the WNBA All-Star team thump Team USA over the weekend, Angel Reese seemed to have a little bit of love for her rival Caitlin Clark.

While their rivalry has been intense at times, the two have shown flashes of respect for each other. Maybe even some admiration.

“In the future, we are gonna be playing with each other a lot,” Reese said from the sidelines. “Hopefully, in 4 years, we can be Olympians together.”

They’ll likely be playing together in a lot of future All-Star games as well.

Reese contributed her usual double-double in the All-Star game, dropping 12 points and grabbing a whopping 11 rebounds. Team WNBA won the contest over Team USA 117-109.

It should be an eye-opener for the United States Women’s basketball team who opted to pass over the energizing rookies for experience, much to the dismay of fans.

Angel Reese even offered praise for Caitlin Clark’s ability as a floor general.

“It’s so cool, when she gets the ball I’m running looking for the ball because I know she’s gonna throw it, she’s been great to play with,” said the Chicago Sky forward.

While she didn’t have a great showing in the All-Star game, Clark still managed to break a record based on her strength as a passer and teammate.

Clark had just four points but set a rookie All-Star game record with 10 assists. One of those assists went to Reese, who became the first rookie to record a double-double in an All-Star game.

Two rookies, setting records based on their particular strengths. Maybe they’ll end up being co-Rookies of the Year.

Caitlin Praised Reese Before The Big Game

Asked her thoughts about sharing the rock with Angel Reese prior to the game, Clark seemed pretty happy about the prospect.

“I’m really excited. I think it’s cool,” she said. “It’s obviously rare to have two rookies in the All-Star game, so I think just enjoy that. Obviously the fans are super excited about it. I think it’s just really good for the W.”

After the game, she noted the talent the WNBA must have to keep giving Team USA a run for their money.

“It was a lot of fun, we came in here and we competed hard,” Clark told reporters. “We knew they were going to want to win so we came out with the same mindset … We started the third quarter really strong and that’s what set the tone.”

She kept up the love for the Olympic squad despite being snubbed for the team and suggested the All-Star game win just shows how good women’s basketball is these days.

“If anything, it shows how good this league is, how much talent there is,” Clark continued. “I’m going to be supporting them and cheering them on, I love the Olympics … they’re going to win gold and dominate.”

Team USA was led by Breanna Stewart who scored 31 points and fought for 10 rebounds, and A’ja Wilson who added 22 points.

Team WNBA was led by Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale who set her own All-Star game record scoring 34 points. All of those points came in the second half.
