An NFL insider has dropped Colin Kaepernick as “delusional” following comments from the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback suggesting he could lead a team to the Super Bowl.
In a recent interview, Kaepernick said he is still working out on the practice field in the hopes that some league executive will take a chance on him.
“It’s something I’ve trained my whole life for, so to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me,” said Kaepernick.
“I think I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”
A league insider thinks any notion he could play in the league again is absurd, according to a Daily Mail report. They even squashed the idea that Kaepernick could return to the game as a coach. More on that later.

Describes Colin Kaepernick As ‘Delusional’
In a particularly scathing commentary, an unidentified NFL insider absolutely tore into Colin Kaepernick after claiming he could still contribute to some willing club.
“He is delusional in thinking that he will eventually be offered a job as a QB again in the league,” the source derided. “That chance has forever passed him, no matter what he thinks.”
“He isn’t going to play in the NFL ever again, there is no scenario where a team will give him a chance to play again, that ship has sailed.”
Following Kaepernick’s plea to play quarterback again, reports surfaced that Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, currently with his reputation mired in a cheating scandal from his time at Michigan, would offer him a coaching job.
“If that was ever the path he was to take, I think that would be tremendous,” Harbaugh said. “He’d be a tremendous coach, if that’s the path he chose.”

Could He Return As A Coach?
Even the prospect of returning to the NFL as a coach, which seems slightly more realistic, is not going to happen according to the NFL source.
“He is apprehensive to start coaching because of two main reasons: one is if he is bad, then that will be the nail in the coffin on working in the NFL ever again,” they said.
“Second, he really thinks he can play for a team and contribute to a championship team.”
Chargers legend Shawne Merriman said putting Kaepernick on the coaching staff would be a “horrible decision” and an affront to everyone who spent years working their way up the coaching ladder.
“To jump over everybody else who spent their time, energy, still in line and work their way up, would just be a slap in the face to everyone that’s been committed to raising the bar,” Merriman said.
The insider tells the Daily Mail there are more capable options out there that “wouldn’t provide the same headaches PR-wise that a returning Colin would.”
But then, maybe Harbaugh would welcome a PR distraction to take the focus off the fact that his Michigan Wolverines last season cheated their way to a national championship.
