Al Michaels is an iconic American sportscaster. Known for his eloquent play-by-play commentary, memorable calls, and his long-standing tenure with NBC Sports. He is particularly famous for his work on Monday Night Football and for being the legendary voice behind the ‘Miracle on Ice’ game during the 1980 Winter Olympics.

That said, all of those accomplishments would go directly out the window if Michaels gets his latest wish. It would be the pinnacle of his storied career.

Calling the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Not only calling it, but teaming up with comedian Will Ferrell.

I mean, that’d be a dream come true for any fan of sports and/or entertainment.

“But one day, I would like to announce the Westminster Kennel Dog Show. I think that would be a lot of fun,” Michaels told Dan Patrick. “That’s one thing I haven’t done.”

We are all for it.

Al Michaels Hosting The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

Picture it. A golden retriever, heavily favored at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. And out of nowhere, a cocker spaniel scores a come-from-behind victory over the canine juggernaut.

Al Michaels on the call: “Do you believe in Milkbones? Yes!”

“I’ll do it with Will Ferrell,” Michaels said. To which Patrick replied, “I’ll ask if Will wants to take part in the Westminster dog show with you.”

Now we’re throwing Will Ferrell into the mix?

The sporting world will not have seen such a legendary broadcast team since … since Frank Gifford and Howard Cosell, or John Madden with Pat Summerall, or even Cotton McKnight and Pepper Brooks.

Needs To Brush Up On His Good Boy Knowledge

From Al Michaels’ lips to God’s ears, man. I can actually envision Will Ferrell doing commentary for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show as his impression of legendary Chicago Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray.

If this were to happen, Michaels might need to brush up just a hair on his knowledge of dogs. Not sure this is going to make the cut at tryouts …

“I’m not saying it’s on my bucket list,” Michaels said. “What would I say? ‘There’s a pooch, there’s a pooch. … a pooch and a mutt.’ What do I know? I don’t know dog breeds.”

And you know what, if that’s what he blurted out it would be … awesome!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to stream the movie Best in Show and hope to the heavens that the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show takes this idea seriously.
