Tom Holland is the star of some of Hollywood’s top-grossing movies of all time. As the man who plays Spider-Man and appears in Marvel’s recent Avengers movies, he’s got a pretty recognizable face.
Holland also boasts of having 65 million followers on Instagram and happens to be dating another huge star in Zendaya. She’s got 182 million followers on IG.
That said, this exchange between Holland and Rory McIlroy is screaming with ‘Who, in the blue heck, are you?’ vibes.
Holland approached McIlroy at the driving range as the two prepared for this week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth – Holland being in the pro-am version.
“Hello mate, sorry I’m Tom,” he says, hand outstretched.
“Hi, Tom, how you doing?” the four-time major championship winner responded.
Holland replied, “It’s a pleasure.”
McIlroy, seemingly befuddled by being interrupted on the driving range dropped, “You alright?”

Fans Point Out Rory McIlroy Has ‘Absolutely No Idea’ Who Tom Holland Is
As of this posting, a video of the awkward change between Rory McIlroy and Tom Holland has been viewed nearly 5 million times on X.
Golf Digest writer Christopher Powers captioned it: “Feels fair to say Rory McIlroy has absolutely no idea who Tom Holland is after watching this.”
Other fans upon seeing the video sensed the same vibe.
“When you shake hands with Peter Parker and will never know,” one person joked.
Another swung into the comments saying, “Rory must be a DC guy – you know Batman and Superman.”
“Rory’s like, ‘Nice to meet you, random guy!'” another quipped.
To his credit, if he truly had no idea who Tom Holland was, then Rory McIlroy handled the interruption with quite a bit of grace and poise.

Tom Holland can definitely impress on the golf course. Just ask Padraig Harrington.
Harrington, who has three major championships of his own, made a bet with Holland during a 2021 Pro-Am in England. He was Ryder Cup team captain for Europe at the time and wagered that if Holland hit his driver off the deck onto the green from 260 yards away on the 18th hole, he’d put him on the team.
That’s when this happened …
Well, he came pretty close anyway. And Harrington said he hit it “as good as any pro” could have from that situation – driver, out of the rough, from 260.
While McIlroy struggled to recognize him, Tom Holland certainly got his share of attention from other celebrities and fans on the course.
