United States gymnast Jordan Chiles did win gold in the team competition during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Unfortunately, her time in France did not end without some major drama.

Chiles took part in the floor routine during the Summer Games. She initially missed out on a medal in favor of Ana Barbosu from Romania. However, the United States questioned Chiles’ initial score. Judges then bumped it up, enabling the Oregon native to win bronze behind Rebeca Andrade and Simone Biles.

This led to the Romanian prime minister threatening to boycott the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Olympics.

However, it was later determined that Chiles’ coaches asked for a review of her score too late. This landed Barbosu the bronze with Chiles missing out. We now have an update on this.

“USA Gymnastics was notified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday that their rules do not allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered even when conclusive new evidence is presented,” USA Gymnastics wrote in a statement via X on Monday.

In no way does this mean that everything has been decided. The fight will continue.

“We are deeply disappointed by the notification and will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure the just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement.

There could be an easy way to settle this drama. Why not award both Chiles and Barbosu with bronze medals? That would solve everything.

As for the gymnast, she’ll more than likely be back when the 2028 Summer Olympics come calling in Los Angeles.

For now, she’s heartbroken over the entire situation after being on the podium with both Andrade and Biles.
