As we enter the final days leading up to YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul’s face off against UFC star Nate Diaz, Paul has admitted that should he lose in the ring on August 5th, this could be the last time we see him in the ring as a professional ever again.

“Potentially, you never know, sometimes you lose and things get bigger and you get more motivated,” said Paul in an interview with InsideFighting. “That’s what happened to me in my last fight [against British boxer Tommy Fury] and I lost you know so like my name only got bigger, the hype for this fight is bigger than any of my other fights and that’s coming off of a loss.

“More ticket sales than any other fight,” Paul continued. “More social interactions than any other fight so I lost and just got bigger and got more motivation to be in the gym so you really never know what’s going to happen.”

As far as what comes for Nate Diaz, win or lose, he’s not giving too much of his thoughts on the future, telling interviewer after interviewer that as far as he’s concerned, he’s focusing on this fight and this fight only.

In 2019, Nate Diaz fought Jorge Masvidal for the inaugural Baddest Motherf—er (BMF) Belt, which he lost due to a cut stoppage. Despite the loss, Diaz is still considered one of the top fighters. He has hinted at a return to the UFC following his bout with Paul in multiple press conferences leading up to his boxing debut.

One offer Paul has already put on the table for Diaz is to come fight him over at the PFL in an MMA match regardless of who wins on Saturday. Paul will be participating in his first MMA bout in the PFL in 2024 (what weight class he’ll be fighting in is still yet determined, but most likely within his current boxing weight of 154-168 lbs), so either way we’ll see Paul swap his boxing gloves for MMA gloves whether he faces off with Diaz or not.

Still, the $10 million offer is probably too good for Diaz, who is currently 38-years-old, to pass up. Would fans want to see this happen though? Hard to tell since that will also depend on how their immediate face-off in the ring goes. Although Paul has never competed in an MMA match, it’s important to recognize his wrestling background. Owing to this, ‘The Problem Child’ is optimistic about his prospects in a bout against Diaz.
