You know, we all sat there and laughed during that one scene in Austin Powers where Mike Myers’ character executes a flawless 37-point turn. But maybe Ohio State head coach Ryan Day’s golf cart driver should have taken some notes.
A cart carrying Day, quarterback Will Howard, another player, and two security staff crashed into a wall inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium following the Buckeyes big win over Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff Championship Game.
Things began innocently enough. A fan was congratulating Day as he took video, telling the coach, “You deserve it, brother.”
Then, out of nowhere. Oh, the humanity!
Bodies strewn everywhere. Smoking wreckage. First responders running to the scene. Mass hysteria. Cats and dogs living together!
Okay, I made that part up. But still, this is a pretty solid hit right into the wall.

Ryan Day’s Golf Cart Smashed
I’m not sure what the best part of this video is. Could it be the fact that Howard can’t stop laughing over this poor woman crashing into the wall? Is it somebody reassuring her that “It’s okay, it’s okay!”
Is it Ryan Day trudging down the hall, hands in his pockets, forced to walk to his destination because his golf cart now lies in tattered ruins?
For me, personally, it’s the fact that the woman laughs a bunch, picks up her cell phone, and then … completely abandons everybody in the cart.
Like, hon, you’re the one who crashed the cart. Maybe stick around to ensure the security folks can peel it off the wall it’s now fused to before heading out.
Then maybe study how the master does it.

Sweet Revenge For Day
Ohio State clinched the national championship by defeating Notre Dame with a score of 34-23. Howard led the way with an efficient 17 of 21 passing day with 231 yards and two touchdowns.
Let’s hope he recovers from his golf cart injuries in time for the NFL draft, where he is expected to be a late first-round pick.
The win must have felt like sweet revenge for head coach Ryan Day. You may recall from our coverage that Day was involved in a little spat with former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz.
Holtz suggested the Buckeyes were a little soft last year, prompting Day to rip him in a post-game interview after Ohio State scored a hard-fought victory.

“I’d like to know where Lou Holtz is right now,” Day said. “What he said about our team, I cannot believe. This is a tough team right here. We’re proud to be from Ohio.”
Holtz predicted Notre Dame would win this year’s championship game, again suggesting the Fighting Irish were the more physical team.
It turns out that Ohio State was a pretty tough team. Ryan Day is a pretty tough coach. And the golf cart that survived the crash test dummy simulation was pretty tough, too.
