Scottie Scheffler recently shared a humorous story about playing a round of golf with a friend who’s “not a very good golfer.”

It involved a friendly wager. And the world’s Number One … lost.

“I played last weekend, and one of my buddies who is not a very good golfer, he’s like a 10 handicap, he beat me in our side bet for the day,” Scheffler said at this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.

“And I was talking with [coach] Phil [Kenyon] and that’s kind of one of the great things about golf is I can go out with a guy who is going to shoot 90 and I can give him enough strokes to where we’ll have a good competition,” he added.

“That’s what makes it so fun about the game of golf.”

Is it too conspiratorial to think Scheffler may be lulling the competition into a false sense of security? Hmm…

It’s HOW Scottie Scheffler Lost

Losing to a 10-handicapper was bad enough, but Scottie Scheffler shared a hilarious story about how it all went down. The two-time Masters champ saw his friend hit into the bunker on the par-3 18th hole.

Scottie was so worried about his buddy hitting out of the trap that he decided to run for cover.

Instead, his worst nightmare came to fruition.

“I got out of the way because I thought he could potentially shank it, and he ended up holing it,” Scheffler laughed.

“It was pretty fun. I didn’t like losing, so I handed him the money and told him, ‘Thanks, man. Now I got to go play a golf tournament next week, so appreciate the confidence boost that I just lost to a 10 handicap.’”

More On His Arrest

Scottie Scheffler recently relived some news he’d probably rather forget when a Netflix docuseries aired previously unseen footage of his arrest at last year’s PGA Championship.

The world’s top golfer was initially handcuffed and charged with numerous violations, including felony second-degree assault of a police officer stemming from a traffic incident.

He spent the morning in a jail cell and then came out and shot a round of 66. Charges were later rightfully dropped when the officer’s claims didn’t hold up based on the evidence.

“Are you guys aware that I’m playing in the golf tournament?” Scheffler asked in the new footage.

“I assume you’re pretty good if you’re playing in the PGA,” one officer replied with Scottie replying: “Yeah, I’m all right.”

Scheffler is currently 1-under par at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, tied for third. At least he doesn’t have to give these guys any strokes.
