Baseball fans were alarmed after watching the formerly-popular rapper Fat Joe perform before Game 3 of the MLB World Series on Monday, even predicting he might be the reason the home team would lose.

Fans in the Bronx believed the New York Yankees had Fat Joe perform as some sort of counter to the Los Angeles Dodgers having Ice Cube perform before Game 2 at Chavez Ravine.

Whereas Mr. Cube was fantastic and had Dodger fans amped up, Mr. Joe’s performance was horrific and had Yankee fans scratching their heads.

Fat Joe was seen ambling around the diamond and struggling to ad-lib, something he likely had to do to make some of the lyrics more palatable to the crowd.

It was a flipping train wreck.

Fat Joe Gets Flame-Broiled

Well, the bad news here is that the performance was off-the-charts bad. The good news is that Yankees fans are some of the most understanding people on the planet. Surely, they’d forgive and forget.

Just kidding. The Gunz Show took to TikTok to immediately predict Fat Joe just sank any hopes for the guys in pinstripes.

“What the hell was that Fat Joe performance?” he asked while rubbing his head. “We’re gonna lose and it’s gonna be Fat Joe’s fault.”

“Who thought that was a good idea?”

That was tame by comparison when looking at social media.

“Fat Joe opening up for the Yankees might be one of the worst things I’ve ever witnessed,” one fan wrote on X.

At least until the game itself started.

“(MLB) has survived multiple wars and pandemics since the 1800s,” podcaster John Ziegler joked, “but getting past this Fat Joe disaster may be their greatest challenge yet.”

This calamity is basically what happens when you order ‘hip rapper’ on Temu. Perhaps that is what the Yankees did just before the game.

The Jokes Didn’t End There

At least once the game started, fans could forget all about Fat Joe and his awful performance. Just kidding. Some people kept equating the Yankees’ play to his performance.

New York lost to the Dodgers 4-2 and it wasn’t even that close. Los Angeles jumped to a 2-0 lead on another Freddie Freeman home run in the first inning. Facing a 3-0 deficit in games already had Yankee fans on edge. From there, it got worse.

“Yankee Stadium is so quiet right now. You would think Fat Joe was performing again,” one person joked.

Others compared Giancarlo Stanton’s base running to the rapper. Stanton was thrown out at home in the bottom of the 4th inning by Dodger outfielder Teoscar Hernandez. Stanton rumbling down the third base line was almost comical. It was a crucial play that killed any momentum the Yankees might have been generating.

“They got Fat Joe pinch-running for the Yankees,” one post showing Stanton’s run states.

Even the Fox Sports post-game coverage mentioned Fat Joe and included the word ‘funeral.’

“Even when Fat Joe came out, the body language from the fans was like DAMN! I was like what’s going on here?!,” ‘Big Papi’ David Ortiz analyzed. “Are we in a funeral already?!”

The rapper set the tone for the night and the Yankees played like his performance.

The Dodgers will go for a sweep of the World Series on Tuesday.
