Earlier this week, the LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne cheered on her boyfriend Paul Skenes at the MLB’s 94th All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas. There, Dunne stole the show as she walked the red carpet with Skenes.
Dunne Walks Red Carpet With Skenes
While on the red carpet, Dunne got to show off her baseball knowledge when Skenes asked her if she knew how to grip a fastball. Dunne responded by asking Skenes if he was referring to a four-seamer.
“See, I know that,” she said proudly.
Dunne proceeded to attempt to do a four-seam grip. Skenes, however, gently revealed that she was incorrectly using three fingers.
Dunne fired back by saying that she is “more of a splinker girl.” This is a reference to Skenes’ rare hybrid pitch of a splitter and sinker.

Skenes’ All-Star Game
Skenes, who is a rookie for the Pittsburgh Pirates, started for the NL All-Star team on Tuesday. He played for one inning and recorded a scoreless inning.
During the game, Dunne could be seen enthusiastically cheering for Skenes in the stands. She was particularly excited when he got Aaron Judge to ground out for the final out of the inning.
Skenes is only the fifth rookie pitcher to start an All-Star Game in 94-year-history of the showcase. The last rookie pitcher to start in an All-Star Game was the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Hideo Nomo back in 1995.
Skenes had previously admitted that he was surprised to be named an All-Star.
“You definitely can’t expect it,” Skenes said earlier this month of being named as an All-Star. “I think it’s just a product of being present and doing the work that it takes, that kind of thing. The expectation was definitely to win the national championship when we were there. That was the only thing that we wanted to do.
“But in terms of getting drafted first overall, getting called up whenever I was called up, and now the All-Star game, there were no expectations for me,” he added. “It’s kind of just about doing as much as I can and allowing others to make the decision for me.”

Dunne And Skenes’ History
Dunne and Skenes revealed their relationship to the world back in August of 2023. They met at Louisiana State University through mutual acquaintances. Dunne has been a staple on the sidelines of his baseball games ever since.
The two also often share pictures of their adventures.
“I have so many amazing memories with him, but I know how hard he’s worked for this moment,” she said after he became a Pittsburgh Pirate. “{All the hours, I just know what a hard worker he is. This is probably one of my favorite moments I’ve ever seen. Seriously, there is nothing that can top this. I’m just so proud.”
Dunne told People Magazine back in May that she “definitely” wants to go to as many of Skenes’ games as she can.
In the end, Skenes is lucky to have Dunne in his corner. We wish them both many years of happiness to come!
