Former Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez revealed to federal agents in 2014 he had been told by Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch that Manny Ramirez, Ryan Braun, and one other All-Star player were also performance-enhancing drug clients, according to documents obtained by ESPN.
Rodriguez is considered one of the greatest players of all time, but he’s been marred with his own ‘enhancement’ drug stories himself. It’s what has kept him out of Baseball’s Hall of Fame, much like fellow offenders Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens.
And that’s where the plot thickens. Alex Rodriguez apparently named names of other players who were juicing when he met with Drug Enforcement Administration agents in 2014. This turn of events came into play right around the time A-Rod received his 211-game suspension for violating MLB’s PED policy, which saw him banned for the entire 2014 season.
At one time considered baseball’s golden boy, the 1993 number-one overall pick’s star has fallen in the wake of his own, personal controversy. He certainly didn’t do himself any favors with his response to it. These latest revelations indicate yet another example of his lack of accountability when it comes to cheating.
Alex Rodriguez also admitted for the first time in the meeting that he, himself, had used PEDs he purchased from Bosch, which is something he had publicly denied previously.
The report also states that A-Rod admitted to using “doping protocols fueled by testosterone creams, red, gummy-like lozenges containing testosterone and human growth hormone” that he purchased during the years 2010-2012. His eventual suspension from the fallout of the Biogenesis deal would lead to him only appearing in 44 games, batting .244 with seven home runs and 19 RBI.
For now, we eagerly await to see how Manny Ramirez and the Hebrew Hammer react to getting snitched out.
