This story about a young Philadelphia Phillies fan will melt your heart. Don’t say you weren’t warned. You thought you were excited for MLB Opening Day? Not as excited as Sam.

This young Philadelphia Phillies fan had one goal: to use his lemonade stand to save up enough money to buy tickets to the Phillies’ season opener. The child, named Sam, not only has a deep passion for his Phillies, but he’s also a recently recovered brain cancer patient.

The clip below shows an unnamed individual who approached Sam, and wanted to buy some lemonade to help contribute to his goals of being at Citizens Bank Park to watch his Phillies play baseball. What Sam didn’t know was that this man was about to make his day by rewarding him with $1000 and free tickets to the Phillies’ regular season opener, courtesy of MLB.

But Sam didn’t just get to attend the game. He also got the chance to meet Phillies players and even get down on the field before the first pitch. As seen in the video below, while he was meeting players from his favorite team, Sam was also gifted a bat and a signed baseball from Spencer Turnbull.

Sam had a ball at Citizens Bank Park, officially declaring it “The best day ever.” We’d have to agree. It doesn’t get much better than that. Props to MLB for somehow discovering Sam’s story and making his day, probably his year. We have a feeling this was a game he’ll never forget.
