Egos on the track certainly get attention, but rivalries are what really get the fans going. And if NASCAR is known for anything, its drivers who can’t stand each other. Driver Ryan Blaney is no exception to this, and in a recent interview he even listed off two drivers he’d rather not race against.

In an interview with The Athletic, Blaney came out and made it clear who were the two drivers he’d prefer not to see driving alongside him— Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin.

“Everyone has their tendencies when you’re racing them,” Blaney told The Athletics’ Jeff Glucker. “You learn that when you run against these guys for a long time. Do they like to put you in bad situations, trying to make you lift? Like Denny and Larson, they love to try to make you lift. It’s not a bad thing, but they do like taking a lot of space. … Like, if they’re on the inside, they like to do the shove-it-in-there-and-push-you-up-the-racetrack and try to put you in a tight spot.

“I wouldn’t say I don’t enjoy it; I love racing with those guys, because they are great racers. But if I do have a restart next to those guys, that’s in the back of my head: ‘Oh, they might take a lot of space and I just have to be ready for that.’”

Larson and Hamlin: Hard Dudes

Any NASCAR fan knows that Larson and Hamlin are two hard dudes who have their own feud on the track and have been known to bump heads.

Take this case in point.

In the Brickyard 400, Ryan Blaney expressed frustration after a controversial restart led to Kyle Larson’s victory. When race leader Brad Keselowski ran out of fuel and pitted, Blaney unexpectedly became the control car.

However, Larson, in third place, took advantage of the inside line and passed Blaney to win the race. Blaney was perplexed and angry, accusing NASCAR of unfairly allowing the restart and favoring Larson.

“There’s no way they should’ve let that go green,” Blaney said. “That’s ridiculous. They just gave it to him . It’s […] over, I’m on the top. I ain’t gonna win from the top.” Gave it to fu*king golden boy. Son of a b*tch.””
