Bubba Wallace is giving his fans an update on his mental health as he prepares for the 2025 NASCAR Cup season.

The polarizing driver posted a lengthy screed to X highlighting his commitment to improving his well-being, something that has been a focus for him of late.

Wallace insists he has shifted from a ‘just get by’ mentality to actively focus on nutrition, exercise, and overall health after a challenging couple of seasons.

“Excited for this season to get underway,” he began. “Took it upon myself to be better and do better. Got my a** kicked the last 2 seasons, plain and simple.”

Wallace missed the 2024 NASCAR playoffs, though he had demonstrated improvement in late-season races, suggesting potential for success in the coming year.

Bubba Wallace’s Focus On The Mental Game

Wallace discussed the mental health aspect of his approach, which Bubba’s wife suggested might just be a fad.

“No shame in saying that,” he said of getting beat down in 2024. “Using it as motivation. I’ve been rocking the ‘just get by’ mentality for too long.”

“Focused on my well-being most importantly. Eating right, drinking right. Working out. Tired of looking like the Grinch.”

Wallace’s openness about his struggles aims to motivate others facing similar issues, emphasizing the importance of self-care in both personal and professional life.

“I love my wife, but she thinks it’s a fad and I’m gonna stop next week. So excited to prove her wrong,” Wallace continued. “In fact, I’ve been at it since the end of the season. The last 3 months have been the best ever.”

“The mentals are at an all time high! Couldn’t be happier!”

Avoiding Toxic Social Media

Bubba Wallace has attributed his new outlook on life to stepping away from social media and avoiding “toxic comments” from NASCAR fans.

News of Bubba Wallace quitting or at least stepping back from social media has been welcome. For obvious reasons. He was heavily engrossed in it in 2020 when he adamantly promoted allegations that a “noose” had been placed in his garage.

While Wallace didn’t report the alleged hate crime himself, he certainly played up reports that he had been the victim of a hate crime.

The FBI investigated the incident and determined it was actually a garage door pulldown that had been there since 2019 and that there was no hate crime.

Now, Wallace is encouraging others to get a new start as well.

“To my people struggling to get started on a new journey. It’s tough as [expletive], no doubt. But I look at it as there is 24 hours in a day. What’s 30 minutes to walk, run, or ride the peloton? 30 minutes,” he said.

“The self-gratitude after is so worth it.”

Something else that improves life outlook? Wallace welcomed his son Becks back in September. This was the first child of Wallace and his wife Amanda, who he’s been married to since New Year’s Eve in 2022.
