The NASCAR star Bubba Wallace is breaking out of racing – at least temporarily – tomorrow, in the great state of Tennessee.

Wallace’s Huge Honor

His new sport? Baseball.

On Wednesday, March 5, Wallace will be throwing the first pitch at the Tennessee baseball game against Xavier at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Tennessee announced Wallace as their special guest on Instagram:

Wallace has been a Tennessee fan for many years. His mother Desirae grew up in Knoxville and ran track for Tennessee. In 2016, Wallace himself took part in a practice with the Tennessee football team.

“This is a tremendous day for me to be here, to suit up, put the pads on and be a part of Team 120,” Wallace said at the time. “I’m excited to be here. It’s a very blessed day.”

“It’s really in my blood,” he added. “It is such a great experience to be a part of.”

Wallace has yet to comment on getting the honor of throwing the first pitch for Tennessee. However, we’re sure that he could not be more excited about doing this!

Wallace Wins Duel At Daytona

This comes at a busy time for Wallace back on the track. Last month, he won the Duel at Daytona.

“It’s just the beginning,” Wallace said after this victory. “You can get very complacent in life and your professional life, and you can keep doing the same routines over and feel like you’re not moving the needle or getting anywhere, and you are getting the same results. So it’s ultimately how you control your destiny is how you wake up each and every day.”

“If you wake up with, eh, (expletive) mindset, then that’s how it’s going to be,” he continued. “If you show up and put emphasis behind that F-word, then it’s really going to make a difference. You have to roll your sleeves up and deal with all the BS. I was not happy with myself. Every time I looked in the mirror, I wasn’t happy. Physical appearance, mental appearance, it needed to change.”

How Long Will Wallace Keep Racing?

Wallace also recently opened up about how long he plans to continue to race.

“Easiest answer is as long as you keep getting paid,” Wallace said. He went on to say that “there comes to a point where if you feel like your competitiveness starts to fall, then it’s like okay, you need to look yourself in the mirror that next season that comes up and be like this could be your last.”

“I would honestly say I’m not the one to just ride around for a paycheck,” he added. “I still want to be competitive, and so when that opportunity runs out, then that’ll be it for me.”

Given Wallace’s recent success in racing, however, it’s safe to say that he won’t be retiring anytime soon. That is, unless him throwing the first pitch at tomorrow’s Tennessee game awakens a sudden interest in a professional baseball career. Only time will tell how this pitch ends up going for Wallace!
