The Hollywood star Shailene Woodley, who is best known for her work in the Divergent movie series and the television show Big Little Lies, couldn’t help but become emotional as she talked about her time dating her former fiancé, the New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Woodley Gets Emotional Over Rodgers

For a bit of background: Woodley, 33, and Rodgers, 41, were first rumored to be dating in July of 2020. They then announced their engagement in February of 2021. Woodley and Rodgers would later call off their engagement in February of 2022. They proceeded to briefly reconcile before splitting for good in April of that year.

Got it so far? Good. So what’s their status now that they’ve been broken up?

Woodley told Outside Magazine that she hasn’t “shared much” about her former romance with Rodgers “because it always makes me cry.”

“It was not right. But it was beautiful,” Woodley said as her “eyes welled up.”

Later in the interview, Woodley appeared to refer to her and Rodgers’ 2022 breakup.

“I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022,” she said. “I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy….I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”

Woodley went on to say that she chose to stay in a “toxic situation” because she was empathizing with “someone else.” Not naming the person, she recalled that “empathy kind of kept me in this loop of feeling everything for everyone.”

Woodley Falls Into A Depression

It took about six months for Woodley’s depression about the situation to fade away. She credited her stylist Kris Zero for helping her get through it when she was at her lowest point.

“I knew I was depressed when I looked at a tree and felt nothing. That was the lowest low of my life,” Woodley admitted. She added that Zero would wake her up every morning by blasting music to get her out of bed during this rough period.

“Sometimes I was so angry at her,” Woodley remembered. “But then we’d go surf, and for ten minutes that day I thought life could be OK again. Then the depression would come back and she’d go, ‘We’re volunteering at the horse ranch!’ And we’d find a random horse ranch, and we’d clean up horse [expletive].”

“We’d clean hooves and brush the horses, and for 20 minutes that day I thought life could be OK again,” she continued. “And then the depression came back and she’d wake me up the next morning and go, ‘Let’s go on a hike and bring trash bags and clean up trash!’”

Though Woodley and Rodgers are each believed to be single now, the actress has big dreams for her future.

“One of my biggest dreams is to be a mom,” she concluded.

Rodgers’ Jets Season

As for Rodgers, he’s focused on playing for the Jets. Allegedly. On Sunday, led the New York Jets to yet another heartbreaking loss, this time to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Jets were up 21-7 in the second quarter of the game. However, the team didn’t score a single point after the halfway point of the second quarter, and allowed the Seahawks to catch up. The Seahawks ultimately won the game by a score of 26-21 after scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Afterwards, Rodgers said that the loss came down to execution, blaming himself but also throwing shade at the guys in the locker room.

“Plays at the end of the second quarter cost us this game,” Rodgers admitted. “Then comes the fourth quarter — it’s execution, it’s strain, it’s the little things, it’s accuracy. And we just have a lot to go around, myself included, first and foremost.”

“There’s 11 guys on the field,” Rodgers also said. “Sometimes it’s my fault, and then sometimes the details aren’t there in some other spots too.”
