Well, I guess it’s time for me to eat some crow. All of my doubts about Bronny James not being an NBA-caliber player who couldn’t hit the ocean with a basketball on a good shooting day have been wiped away.
For King James II, as he is now known, is officially in the record books after his historic moment with Dad this past Tuesday.
LeBron and his kid checked into the game together late in the second quarter of their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
And while many skeptics – myself included – had a chuckle at the stat line, the joke it seems is on us.
Bronny’s NBA regular season debut stat line saw him play 3 minutes. He scored 0 points on 0 for 2 shooting while dishing out 0 assists. But he did manage to grab one board.

Bronny James Already Setting Records
While the zero points Bronny posted might not seem like much – in fact, you can’t score any less – they are now officially etched into the NBA record books.
LeBron and Bronny now make up the highest-scoring father-son duo in league history.
Excuse them while they climb the ladder to immortality Mychal and Klay Thompson and your 28,341 points total: Mychal (12,810), Klay (15,531).
Step aside Dell and Stoph Curry with that weak 36,338 points: Dell (12,670), Steph (23,668).
Move over Joe “Jellybean” and Kobe Bryant with your 38,895 points combined: Joe (5,252), Kobe (33,643).
There is a new king in town. Or should we say, Kings? LeBron and Bronny James now have a combined 40,490 points: LeBron (40,490), Bronny (0).

Record-Setter AND Champ
Man, Kenny Smith was right. People who don’t think Bronny James deserves to be in the NBA just “don’t know basketball.” Stats don’t lie. He’s a record-setter!
And before any of you naysayers come at me with your “LeBron kind of did the heavy lifting on that there stat” nonsense, let me remind you that little Bron’ isn’t just a record-setter. He’s bringing home championship hardware already as well.
Need I remind all of you Negative Nancies out there that even though Bronny couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with a basketball over the summer, his aim at the NBA Summer League’s “Call of Duty” tournament was impeccable?
That kid captured the video game tournament over a strong, strong field of contestants and in the process earned himself a nice $10,000 check and a custom championship belt.
He’s got the killer instinct. And now he’s got the stats to back it up. Bronny James is NBA material!
