This week, unimaginable tragedy has taken place all over the Los Angeles area as wildfires rage out of control. Unfortunately, Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick is among the many victims. Redick lives in the Pacific Palisades area, where the majority of damage has occurred.

The coach used his megaphone with the media to mourn for his town. Take a look:

What Comes Next

The Lakers postponed Thursday night’s home game against the Charlotte Hornets due to the ongoing fires. Fans who held tickets for Thursday’s game against Charlotte will have them honored for the rescheduled date, but that’s likely little comfort to anyone affected by the fires.

It could end up being the first of many postponements. For now, Los Angeles has two upcoming home games against the San Antonio Spurs on January 11 and 13, followed by a game against the Miami Heat on January 15, and then the Brooklyn Nets on January 17.

The Lakers released a statement all across social media expressing their heartbreak as we ourselves ache for the great city.

Effect on Other Sporting Events

As far as the rest of major sporting events in Los Angeles, the NFL announced on Thursday evening that the Rams wild card game against the Minnesota Vikings scheduled for Monday night is being moved to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona due to the fires.
