Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid paid tribute to Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved local radio disc jockey and avid fan of the team who was killed tragically in the Super Bowl parade shooting earlier this month.

Lopez-Galvan was the ultimate victim in the shooting that saw 22 others injured, including several children. She left behind two young children of her own.

The shooting was the result of an ignorant group of thugs caught up in looking at each other disrespectfully.

Lyndell Mays, 23, has been charged in the attack on two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree murder. 18-year-old Dominic Miller faces the same charges.

Andy Reid Praises First Responders

Speaking with reporters at the NFL’s scouting combine on Tuesday, coach Andy Reid first discussed Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

“Before we get started I just want to put a shoutout to the Lopez-Galvan family for their loss with Lisa and for the people of Kansas City,” he said. “You know, she was a personality there and a very good human being first of all and we’ll all miss her as I know her family will.”

“That’s not what Kansas City is all about,” Reid continued. “For our youth of America that we gather together, you’re our future and as great as we can make this place we want to do that.”

Reid also praised first responders for their heroism.

“The law enforcement folks were unbelievable during the situation,” he recalled. “We had them from all over the place and they just immediately jumped in to cover you up mode and make sure everybody was safe the best they could with a million people there.”

“I thought they handled everything tremendously. Not just from my standpoint but I had a bird’s eye view of everything going on. I thought they were great.”

In addition to Andy Reid’s comments about the Super Bowl parade shooting, Chiefs CEO and Chairman Clark Hunt started off his press conference by expressing sympathies for those hurt in the rally shooting and thanked first responders.

The Kansas City Chiefs launched a fundraiser for those affected by the parade shooting. Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, along with Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, all donated to the cause.
