Kansas City Chiefs Really Expensive Super Bowl Rings Appear To Have A Typo

A first look at the Kansas City Chiefs diamond-studded Super Bowl championship rings reveal that they have a minor but super-irritating typo engraved on them.

In an effort to show off how difficult their postseason run was, the Chiefs ring design shows the seeding of their opponents along the way.

One problem. They list the Miami Dolphins as the number 7 seed. They were actually the 6-seed.

The error was first picked up on social media using a graphic release of the Super Bowl rings which describes the significance of each detail in the design.

A video posted to the team’s YouTube account also shows an actual ring featuring the mistake.

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Ring Typo

Look, twenty years from now, nobody is going to remember or care about the seeding of the Chiefs’ opponents on their run to capture Super Bowl LVIII.

But isn’t that kinda the point? Why are we putting the seeds of opponents on a ring anyway? It’s a goofy detail to add.

Some have expressed hope that the typo on the Kansas City Chiefs’ new Super Bowl rings is only on the graphic, but the fact that the actual ring used in the video has one would certainly suggest all of the others have it as well.

Chiefs fans, predictably will respond to this flub in one of two ways: ‘Ha ha we dissed the Dolphins’ or ‘See, our competition was even better than we said it was.’

Will They Fix Them?

These rings aren’t cheap though. They typically cost somewhere in the $30,000 – $50,000 range. They measure a total of 14.8 carats, including 529 diamonds and 38 rubies.

And all anybody can talk about right now is the number 7. Bang up job, guys.

Who’s in charge of ring design over there in KC? The guy who paints the endzone in the Snickers commercial with “Chefs”?

Anyway, I can’t see the team going through the painstaking process of fixing an inner band engraving for something so minor. The cost and effort would be a little ridiculous.

Imagine if they had screwed up one of the scores instead.
