In a moment that makes social media worth it, a dialect coach recently showed Minnesota Vikings rookies how to speak more like the fans who will be rooting for them during the 2024 NFL season.
Part of what makes the United States the diverse melting pot that it is is the unique accents in different parts of the country. New “Yawkaz” speak a little differently than their Northeast counterparts in “Baston.” The southern accent in Texas is definitely different than the Cajun one used by folks down in Louisiana.

The same could be said for the locals that put that extra “so”SO” in Minnesota. And in an attempt to better assimilate their rookies to the fanbase they will be playing for in their first NFL season, the Vikings produced a video where they had several of the players they selected in the April NFL Draft sit down with a dialect coach to say certain words like a true Minnesotan.

In a video posted to the Minnesota Vikings’ social media accounts, a dialect coach named Keely showed first-round picks J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner, as well as Bo Richter, Levi Drake Rodriguez, and other rookies the right way to say certain words with a Minny accent.

In Minnesota, milk isn’t milk, it’s melk. Bag is not bag, it’s beig. Most of the athletes struggled with the words but seventh-round pick Levi Drake Rodriguez impressed with his version of bag. It’s a short video but very funny and showcases the uniqueness of the Minnesotan accent.
