Cam Newton is apparently the Rodney Dangerfield of the Carolina Panthers organization. He just can’t get any respect.
Newton, in the most recent episode of his “4th & 1” podcast, pointed out signs that he believes are an indication the team is trying to leave him and his legacy behind.
That includes the fact that they, according to him and his son, don’t have any pictures of the former NFL Most Valuable Player on the stadium walls. This, despite Newton arguably being the young franchise’s greatest player so far.
“We went into the Panthers’ facility and . . . you mean to tell me that one of the greatest Panthers to ever play ain’t up nowhere? Nowhere. I’m talkin’ nowhere,” said Newton. “Who brought it to my attention? My son. So as a man, when you have to explain to your son . . . ‘Daddy, where’s your picture?’”
Pretty brutal, the way he explains that with his son.
“Then you know what the tour guide person said? ‘Oh, if you go up on the second and third level, Cam’s all over the place,” he added.
But Newton says even that wasn’t the case, noting, “I seen Jake Delhomme. I seen Thomas Davis. I seen Luke Kuechly. I seen Julius Peppers. I seen Steve Smith.”
The real reason why the @Panthers are avoiding Cam Newton's legacy…

Is Cam Newton Being Dissed By The Panthers?
Cam Newton said that the explanation coming from Carolina Panthers brass about having no pictures of the guy who led them to three NFC South titles, four playoff appearances, their second-ever Super Bowl appearance, and was the first black quarterback to outright win NFL MVP, was a bit sketchy.
“At this particular point in time, the question was ‘Oh, we don’t know if Cam’s retired yet,'” he said. “News flash—I’m never gonna retire. I know I’ve played my last piece of football.”
“It don’t matter to me to officially retire. I’m in a happy place.”
Wouldn’t you be happier with your picture on the wall? If need be, just write it on a napkin the way Bill Belichick did when he left the New York Jets.
Keeps Getting The Cold Shoulder
Joking aside, Cam Newton seems genuinely emotional about the snub. He also stated that the team didn’t even bother to approach him about being part of the team ambassadorship on their latest trip to Germany to play the New York Giants.
“I didn’t even know certain opportunities even existed,” Newton said. “So did it hurt my feelings? Yeah, it did. I’m like damn, bro. I gave this city everything.”
Newton doesn’t seem able to catch a break.
Last month, he got the cold shoulder from Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders – son of Colorado coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders – after he went onto the field during his pregame routine as the Buffaloes prepared for a matchup against Central Florida.
