It’s becoming a safe bet that if Jason Kelce is appearing in some capacity for ESPN, he’s going to have to apologize later for something he has said.
And, during the broadcast of ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown before the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals, it was more of the same.
Kelce, in his characteristic, unfiltered style, branded Dallas, Texas, as the “butthole and armpit of America.”
The former Philadelphia Eagles center was trying to be clever (which was his first mistake) by making a joke playing off the special “Simpsons” themed alt-cast of the Monday night game.
Mina Kimes’ animated character had called Springfield, “The Armpit of America’s Butt-Crack,” a direct reference to the show and one of the nicknames for the city.

On ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, Kelce couldn’t resist taking a jab at Dallas, piggybacking off a Simpsons joke.
His punchline? “The armpit and butthole of America.”

Jason Kelce Backpedals Like A Russian Circus Bear
Following the awkward joke, you could just feel the tension from the rest of the crew, knowing Jason Kelce just insulted a major NFL city.
Kelce’s remark came as a surprise, leading to a chorus of “Hey! Hey! Whoa!” from the panel. His quick clarification that it was “just a joke” did little to ease the tension, especially when former Cowboys player Marcus Spears, sitting right next to him, was visibly shaking his head.
“Guys, it was just a joke because of what Mina said,” Kelce insisted.
The walk back and attempt to clarify would continue.
“We’re having fun here,” Kelce claimed. “I love Dallas. We got the cowboy hats.”
Another apology tour for the former Super Bowl champ. It’s becoming commonplace.

Apologize, Apologize, Apologize
At least this was a lighthearted attempt at humor that caused the uproar. Nobody wants to neuter Yukon Cornelius’s doppelganger. He needs to be free to joke around like a frat boy. That’s his shtick.
However, Jason Kelce’s apologies are becoming rather frequent.
Just a few weeks ago, Kelce had to issue an apology for his interaction with an obnoxious Penn State fan who hurled homophobic slurs and taunts about his brother Travis.
The problem was that he smashed the guy’s phone and then repeated the slur at least three times.
“I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” Kelce said in an on-air apology. “In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t.”

Prior to that, Kelce apologized to fans after an early season broadcast of Monday Night Football focused way too much on him.
“Before the game, being out in the parking lot, the countdown, being up in the booth with Joe and Troy, it was really, really awesome for me, so selfishly, I am just beyond happy that that was kind of how I get to remember my first time being in the Linc not as a player,” he said.
“At the same time, I fully understand why a bunch of Atlanta people hate my guts right now, so I apologize.”
Perhaps he needs an assistant to just issue a form letter apology going forward for all broadcasts.
