Football fans might be torn over the excessive coverage of Taylor Swift during their football games, but NFL players themselves have voiced a strong opinion on the matter.

A new poll from The Athletic, which asked questions anonymously of current players in the league, shows a vast majority of players are okay with the Swift-Kelce relationship craze.

Better than being okay with it, they feel it’s a positive for the NFL.

Nearly 73% of those questioned view her wedging her way into the game as a positive. Just 5% of players viewed Swift as a negative. And roughly 22% were in the middle on the matter.

“I think it’s been positive for the league. I think that at the end of the day, it’s a business and you need to get as many eyes on it as possible,” one player told the outlet.

He also suggested that, as in the case of the NFL overall, people seem happy that she’s positively influencing everyone’s bottom line.

“And she brings a lot of eyes, so, you know, if that increases the salary cap, I don’t think anybody’s gonna be too mad about that one.”

Not Everyone In The NFL Is Enamored With Taylor Swift

Interestingly, the Athletic quotes one of the players from the poll who doesn’t view Taylor Swift as a good thing. They reference the NFL’s promo video before the season began. Particularly, a perceived sleight of their own quarterback.

“I feel like she is getting unnecessary coverage,” the unnamed player reportedly said. “There was the whole NFL opening season video on Twitter and she was featured five times and our quarterback was featured none. That’s not even right. She is not the NFL.”

A league promotion just before week one showed the “Shake It Off” singer five separate times. Meanwhile, Kelce was squeezed in three times, and one of those was because he was locking lips with Swift.

That’s a total of eight times for the NFL’s power couple. In a 30-second promo.

Some of the quarterbacks left out of that video include Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy, Houston Texans’ CJ Stroud, Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford, and Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love.

Player Suggests She’s A Positive But The League Needs To Tone It Down A Bit

Another player cited in the poll takes a very measured approach. He suggested Taylor Swift is a good thing but perhaps the NFL could reel it in a little.

“It’s bringing more attention to the game but I feel like they’ve been using her face,” the player said. “If she’s at a game, they probably show her like six, seven times. People get … sick of it if they keep doing it over and over again.”

“So I think they’ve got to find a balance.”

The NFL isn’t interested in balance. They’re interested in money. So they’re not going to slow things down when it comes to Taylor Swift.

In fact, Roger Goodell is probably beside himself as the Chiefs are currently suffering from a two-game streak in which she wasn’t in a luxury suite cheering on her boo.
