Former NFL star Richard Sherman faced a terrifying ordeal when armed robbers broke into his Washington home just days before his 37th birthday.

Sherman shared harrowing security footage on social media, showing three men—one visibly wielding a gun—smashing through a window while his wife and children were inside.

The video will give you chills thinking about your own family potentially being in harm’s way like this.

Sherman asked for the public’s help in potentially identifying the criminals.

“House being robbed at gunpoint with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift,” he wrote on X. “Scary situation that my wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe. If anyone has any info that can help find these people please reach out.”

Richard Sherman’s House Broken Into

Still images of the armed home invasion and the accompanying video have been viewed on X nearly 3.5 million times. Hopefully, somebody will know something about the attack.

The incident, now under active investigation by local police, adds Sherman to a growing list of athletes targeted by burglars, echoing recent high-profile cases involving stars like Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

A gang of Chilean migrants was arrested for breaking into Burrow’s home after they posed for pictures wearing some of his stolen jewelry.

Burglars have targeted numerous athletes, including Burrow, Mahomes, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

The FBI issued a warning to athletes regarding the break-ins, suggesting the robberies have been linked to organized crime groups based in South America. A statement indicates some have even occurred while residents are in the house, as appears to be the case with Sherman.

As the former Super Bowl champion pleads for public help to identify the culprits, the footage serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability even celebrities face in their own homes.

Speaking Of Break-Ins

In an ironic twist, Richard Sherman was involved in a notable domestic violence incident in Redmond, Washington, back in 2021.

Washington State Patrol at the time received a 911 call reporting a possibly impaired driver—later identified as Sherman—crashing his SUV into a construction zone barrier. He abandoned the heavily damaged vehicle and fled on foot.

Shortly after, Redmond police received a call from his in-laws’ home, where Sherman was attempting to force entry.

His wife, Ashley Moss, also made a 911 call, reporting that Sherman was intoxicated, belligerent, and had threatened to kill himself, urging immediate police intervention.

After initially being charged with felony burglary and domestic violence, the charges were downgraded to misdemeanors—criminal trespass, malicious mischief, DUI, and resisting arrest—and Sherman was released without bail.

He later pleaded guilty to negligent driving, criminal trespass, and a speeding infraction, avoiding jail time.

Sherman played 11 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Seattle Seahawks (2011–2017), where he became a key figure in the “Legion of Boom” defense. He earned five Pro Bowl selections, three First-Team All-Pro honors, and a Super Bowl XLVIII title.
