Kelce Discusses Super Bowl Loss
Later that night, Kelce opened up about the brutal loss to reporters in the locker room.
“[We] couldn’t get it going offensively,” he admitted. “I mean, they just got after us on all three phases and then on top of that, you know, turnovers, penalties, playing behind the sticks on offense.”
“We haven’t played that bad all year,” he continued. “You don’t lose like that without everything going bad.”
That being said, Kelce still praised his Chiefs teammates for “fighting until the end forever,” even when a win began to seem impossible, given the blowout score.
“Even with the score late, we were always gonna fight,” Kelce added. “We just couldn’t find that spark. We couldn’t find that momentum.”

Mahomes Weighs In – Talks Potential Kelce Retirement
As for Mahomes, he took losing the game hard. He described losing the Super Bowl as “the worst feeling in the world,” adding that the feeling “will stick with you the rest of your career.”
Mahomes was also asked if he knows whether or not Kelce plans to retire.
“I’ll let Travis make that decision on his own, man,” Mahomes told ABC News in response. “He’s given so much to this team and to the NFL and been such a joy not only for me to work with, but for people to watch.”
“He knows he still has a lot of football left in him. You can see it. He always makes plays in the biggest moments,” he continued. “It’s if he wants to put in that grind, cause it’s a grind to go out there and play 20 games.”
Whether Kelce decides to continue playing or not, Mahomes believes he’s cemented his legacy as a Hall of Fame player.
“He knows, he’ll come back here with welcome arms,” Mahomes concluded. “We love that guy not only for the football player, but the person that he is every single day.”
The Chiefs have given Kelce until March 14 to decide if he wants to retire or not. At the time of this writing, it remains unclear what exactly Kelce plans to do.
Mahomes and Kelce have obviously taken this Super Bowl loss incredibly hard. Here’s hoping that they can can use this off-season to come to terms with the loss and grow from it in the end!
