Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce spoke out on social media on the day that an alleged breakup contract had indicated an announcement would be made that he is splitting from girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The contract, which Kelce’s people have repeatedly insisted was a fake, stated that he and Swift would announce a breakup on September 28th. The leak included accusations that they would announce their split via pre-written statements shortly thereafter.
And, on the 28th, Kelce did make a statement on X. Just not what anybody who actually believed the contract might have expected.
“Really thought the Bearcats were gonna find a way to win that one at the end…smh,” he wrote on X.
Kelce was responding to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was celebrating a Texas Tech victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats on the 28th.
Mahomes played for Texas Tech in college while Kelce played for the Bearcats.
The ‘Breakup Contract’ Date Has Come And Gone For Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce
The fact that the date this sports and entertainment power couple was to make a major announcement about their breakup as stipulated by a leaked contract has come and gone seems to indicate it was never real in the first place.
Whereas the announcement was supposed to involve post-breakup statements to “allow the initial media frenzy to settle and ensure clarity,” we ended up with no frenzy at all.
In fact, if there were to be a media frenzy, it should probably focus on Kelce’s new haircut which itself is rather frenzied and something the public needs ‘clarity’ on.
Kelce’s team all along has said the ‘breakup contract’ was a hoax.
They issued a statement insisting it was “entirely false and fabricated and (was) not created, issued or authorized by this agency.”

Where Is Taylor?
Despite the coming and going of ‘breakup contract’ dates, fans are beginning to wonder just where Taylor Swift has been lately. The pop star has now skipped two Chiefs games in a row.
The horror!
Critics though, have suggested Swift has been a “distraction”. Kelce is mired in a slump culminating with a video that went viral in which he looked like a sad panda on the sidelines at a game she did not attend.
Thus far this season, Swift has attended two games and missed two. In the two games with Swift, Kelce had 4 catches for 39 yards. In the two games she’s skipped he has 11 catches for 119 yards.
The Chiefs are currently 4-0, winning each game by a touchdown or less. No breakup seems forthcoming and the team is well-positioned for another post-season with Taylor in tow.
