Aaron Rodgers, in a video clip from Enigma, a three-part Netflix docuseries about the New York Jets quarterback, can be seen discussing his experiences with ayahuasca.

Ayahuasca is a very powerful psychedelic known for its spiritual insights.

During one of his trips in Central America, Rodgers humorously contemplates the life of a butterfly, imagining what it must feel like to transform from a caterpillar and fly.

“A butterfly is just another term for the caterpillar. It’s really the caterpillar the entire time. And the caterpillar opens his wings and just cannot (expletive) believe this is my life now!” Rodgers says.

A giddy Rodgers adds, “I get to fly around. I get to smell flowers and eat flowers. To live like that, living your wildest dreams every single day…”

Video Of Aaron Rodgers High On Ayahuasca Is Hilarious

The Enigma series provides an in-depth look not just at Aaron Rodgers’ athletic prowess but also at the complex, often controversial aspects of his life off the field. That includes getting high on ayahuasca.

The documentary focuses significantly on Rodgers’ recovery from a torn Achilles, an injury that sidelined him after just four snaps into the 2023 season with the Jets.

However, Enigma isn’t just about physical rehabilitation; it’s also about the spiritual and personal journey Rodgers undertook during this time.

Taking a trip high on ayahuasca is part of a broader narrative where Aaron Rodgers reveals how psychedelics have helped him cope with personal issues, including his identity crisis post-Super Bowl win in 2011.

The documentary also delves into Rodgers’ use of ayahuasca as part of his journey to overcome perfectionism and his complicated relationship with organized religion. It certainly offers viewers a unique insight into the personal life of one of the NFL’s most controversial figures.

Tripping With A Bear

Chicago Bears defensive back Adrian Colbert joined Aaron Rodgers on his ayahuasca retreat in Costa Rica during the offseason.

Colbert shared on TMZ Live that the experience was life-changing, teaching him to “surrender” rather than being driven by anger to prove others wrong.

“For me personally,” Colbert said. “I was once driven off of anger and how can I prove other people wrong for doubting me? But, now, I come from a place of love.”

Colbert’s newfound ‘place of love’ marks a significant shift from his previous motivations. Although, it’s hard to be an angry person while on psychedelics.

Their spiritual journey was facilitated by Rodgers, who has been an advocate for the benefits of ayahuasca, alongside other NFL players like Miami Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer.
