A few Philadelphia Eagles players are complaining that some of the fan noise at Lincoln Financial Field is giving them a home DIS-advantage
Philadelphia sports fans are ruthlessly passionate when it comes to their local teams. And Eagles fans are known as some of the most brutal in the NFL. For goodness sake, this is a town that once bombarded Santa Claus with batteries and snowballs. So, they aren’t known as the jolliest of folks, but they are fiercely loyal in Philly.
No Brotherly Love For Philly Fans?
But that passion may have turned into a pain – and some penalties – on the field for the players. If one recent report is to be believed, there are a handful of players who think the fan base has hindered them during their recent string of losses.
Writer Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Inquirer recently wrote that some Eagles players think the home crowd is partially responsible for some their communication issues when they’re on offense.
“Over the past month, several Eagles offensive players have hinted that the crowd noise at Lincoln Financial Field has affected the offense’s efficiency. Now, they’re going public,” Hayes’ story states. “Some can’t hear Jalen Hurts’ cadence. Some can’t hear audibles, every syllable of which is crucial…some can’t hear the play call in the huddle.”

Noise Has Become A Factor For The Line
In making his point the writer says that Eagles center Jason Kelce said, “It would be nice if you could hear yourself think out there.”
But it’s not just the outspoken Kelce who has raised the issue.
“One hundred percent. I would love to hear the cadence,” Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata also told Hayes. “People don’t understand the gravity of playing at home. Because we can go on our cadence. Maybe draw them offside.”
With two games remaining, the Eagles (11-4) sit atop the NFC East. They will host the Arizona Cardinals (3-12) on Sunday. They close out the regular season in New York against the Giants on January 7th.
