Ohio native and four-star recruit Aaron Scott sent a clear message on what Big 10 team he will be loyally suiting up for when he begins his college football career. He’s staying close to home to play for the Buckeyes, and he made sure to get a dig in at rival Michigan along the way.
The talented defensive back made his announcement on Monday by placing apparel from both schools on a table. But as he reached for a backpack with the Wolverine logo on it. It was supposed to give an indication that Scott would be heading to Ann Arbor. But then, the Springfield, Ohio, native revealed his true colors, shocking those in attendance with his bold stunt.
The battle for Scott was reportedly down to Oregon, Michigan, and Ohio State, according to rivals.com. He ranks as the No. 34 prospect and No. 3 cornerback in the nation, making him a borderline five-star.
Aaron Scott is the 19th addition to a Buckeye class that already ranked No. 2 overall prior to his pledge. He’s the fourth top-10 prospect from Ohio to commit to the Buckeyes in the 2024 cycle. But while there might be a reason to celebrate in the Buckeye State? Michigan fans were left steaming by the stunt.
Aaron Scott received a lot of fireback from the faithful followers of the maize and blue. They lit him up on Twitter for what they deemed a disrespectful play on their emotions. Even still, the clever move did go viral, with viewers split on whether it was funny or fierce.
“He’s definitely got the rivalry part down lol,” one good-natured Michigan fan replied. “Good luck to him. We’ll see him in a few months.”
However, some were critical of the move, even saying it was an early indication of Aaron Scott’s attitude.
